Born on the outskirts of Manchester, Gerald made the move to London at the age of 19 when he took up an offer from Terence Conran to join the Habitat Design Group. Early work involved the design of packaging, fabrics and graphics for the ever expanding Habitat retail chain of stores, later he moved on to the design and art direction of Habitat catalogues and was given the job of producing the first catalogue for Habitat France. As a designer at Conran Associates, he also worked on many graphic projects for leading British companies of the time.

After nine years with Conran Associates, he joined a design orientated advertising agency in Bedford Row where he gained a valuable insight into the mechanics of agency life, designing for some of the UK's most successful brands such as Fisons and Eli Lilly in the pharmaceutical sector, Boots and Burton in retail. The agency, McCormick Richards, later became part of the global, Publicis Group.

1980 saw the formation of Gerald Peake Design with a move to a new studio and with the Boots Company as one of his main clients, the creation and management of the Boots Cookshop identity was a major graphics project that lasted seven years. Gerald's interest in rock music and fashion led to the creation of Badbones Limited, a retail concept based around the design and sourcing of a mail order clothing range targeted at the music industry. Design work for Praxis Studios in London involved conceptual ideas and catalogue production for Braitrim, Charles Worthington and the L'Oréal Paris UK group. After a move to Nottingham in 1997, Gerald was approached by Hillarys Blinds to set up an in-house design group and to design their first Agents Manual and other corporate promotions.

Photography, has always been a passion, from the direction of photographers shooting Habitat catalogues, promo shoots for rock bands to fashion shoots for Badbones, the photographic image is still very much part of his design agenda - 2008 saw the launch of his stock image website - Image Division.

Gerald has spent the last seven years
working on interior design projects for clients in London. The work involved concepts, visuals, specification and presentation to major private healthcare groups. He is now based in Cardiff.
