Ebay
- Probably the best way to get a bargain, for either
new or used gear, as long as you follow the fairly obvious
'Safe Trading' rules. Always check out the sellers feedback
comments from buyers ( don't confuse this with feedback from
sellers - it's easy to get good feedback from sellers as you're
buying off them ! )
Many
dealers now have their own Ebay store selling ends of ranges,
search using Brand names like Alpinestars, - goods in the
USA and Europe may seem cheap but don't forget the weight
of postage especially for leathers and of course there's the
import duties. Also there's not much point in making a bid
until the last half-hour of an auction, otherwise your just
helping to push the price up for whoever wins.
When buying helmets, ask the seller 'has it been dropped'
and make sure they accept returns so you can return it if
not sattisfied. Don't be afraid to ask for specific measurements
when bidding for leathers, and consider using leathers alteration
services on the Accessories page, this will cost around £70
for shortening etc. but can save you hundreds.
Here are a few search terms to get you started on Ebay...
